The objective of the project was to build a machine with the longitudinal machining envelope of a large CNC vertical milling machine without adding on the extra cost of options and accessories beyond that which was necessary for machining the product.

By building a two axis, PLC controlled milling machine, the desired result was achieved for much less than the cost of a comparably sized CNC milling machine
